Air Cargo Customer Service Representative

Seeking a Self-Motivated Individual for Export Air Cargo Customer Service Position
  • Ability to use transportation computer-based software and Microsoft Office related programs
  • Sound oral and written communication skills required
  • Problem identification skills balanced by problem resolution capabilities
  • Working knowledge of TSA requirements as outlined in 49 CFR 1548 preferred but not required
Job Description / Responsibilities:
  • A fundamental understanding of the processes and documentation requirements involved in int’l shipping
  • Coordination of air export shipments including rate identification, cargo routing, quoting, booking, trucking
  • Efficiently process export documentation including waybills, AES filing and preparation of related shipment documents, client invoicing, AP invoices and miscellaneous responsibilities.
  • Efficiently identify the most cost-effective solution based on each clients’ shipment specific needs
  • Accurately input data and efficiently process export shipments in accordance with U.S. law and regulation
  • Handling knowledge of special products (ULD, Temperature Controlled, Hazardous, etc.) is a plus
  • Communicate effectively, directly and indirectly, with clients, vendors, co-workers, government agencies, and industry partners via phone and email to complete challenging tasks in a time sensitive manner
  • Maintain profitability of accounts and identify opportunities for increasing revenue and profit margins by negotiating pricing with vendors and quoting clients
  • Nurture present client relationships while developing new clientele
  • Proactively communicate trade and regulatory information to customers
  • Create, update and execute SOP’s for new and existing clients
  • Assistance in other departments could be required as needed

Desired Experience:
  • 1 - 2 years ‘hands on’ experience in Air Cargo (Export) operations preferred but not required
  • High School Diploma / Equivalent
  • Experience with Descartes (IES) system is preferred but not required
