J.W. Allen & Company’s 48 Hour Outlook
Tropical Storm Karen has weakened a little and is expected to be near the central gulf coast on Saturday. A turn toward the north and a decrease in forward speed is expected by early Saturday. With an increase in forward speed on the forecast track, the center of Tropical Storm Karen is expected to be near the coast within the Tropical Storm warning area Saturday night. A turn toward the northeast is expected on Sunday.
Although some strengthening is possible Saturday night and Sunday, little change in strength is expected over the next day or so. Tropical Storm Karen is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches over portions of the central and eastern gulf coast through Sunday nigh, mainly near and to the right of the path of the storm’s center. Isolated storm total amounts of 10 inches are possible.
All indications are that Tropical Storm Karen will be a weekend rain event for the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Although we are monitoring closely, we expect little adverse impact on our operations and anticipate a continuation of our normal business operations on Monday morning October 7th.
Any change in the status of our operations will be updated on our website: www.JWAllen.com
